I sit, curled in a fetal position, the novel Huckleberry Finn lays at my feet. Tears flow from my eyes, tears made of pure terror. The abomination lays there, mocking me, it’s horrifying pages flapping at me, laughing it’s sick laugh. The tears don’t cease, they won’t until this horrible book is out of my life. “I’d rather be playing StarCraft…” I manage to mumble.
Assigned reading has always been a huge pain in my ass. No matter what, I always find myself hating the books that we are assigned to read, even if I would have loved them outside of school. It just seems to be the fact that we HAVE to read them that ticks me off.
I’ve never been a fan of being forced to do anything. No matter what it is, I hate being told what I HAVE to do. As Captain Kirk once said; “Without freedom of choice, the is no creativity.” That is a quote I try to live my life by, because without the freedom of choice, what are we?
I’ve always felt this way, for as long as I can remember. My parents and adult supervisors always tagged me as “rebellious”, but I’ve always considered myself a bit a revolutionary. Now before you go thinking “He thinks he’s a revolutionary? How conceded is this guy?! ” I just have to explain, I’m not big headed, I’m just sure of my beliefs.
So what’s the whole point of this you may ask? Well, I’m just trying to get across that you should always have a choice of what to do, even if it’s something as trivial as reading a book for school. No one like being told what to do.
First off, I’ve got to say, my personal laptop has bit the dust, and now I’m stuck using a shitty computer at school or the library. So my posts will probably become less frequent as the weeks go on. Things will be back to normal as soon as I get a new computer.
So, it’s a new year, and that means new content.
I have been meaning to make this post since the first of the year, but never got around to it until now. This year I’m planning some pretty awesome stuff for the Swamp. In short; Youtube. I’ve recently gotten some new recording software and I’m anticipating the new recordings I can do with it.
We all know I had only one gameplay video posted here, and it was pretty sub-par. But with my new computer AND new recording software, the quality will be much better. I’ve also been practicing talking to myself (as strange as it sounds) to help with my recording jitters. I was always nervous going into a recording session because I was afraid I’d have nothing to talk about, but by talking to myself randomly, I’ve almost remedied that problem.
So needless to say, this Youtube thing is a pretty big deal to me. I really like gaming and have always wanted to share my shenanigans with the world, so what better outlet than Youtube?!
The first ever Marvel Lego game has been announced, and I’m more than excited!
I’m a huge fan of the Lego games, they’re so simple, yet so lovable! The childish charm makes me want my childhood back (which is strange considering I’m only 17, fresh out of childhood).
The game will have a story in which Nick Fury enlists the help of some of the Avengers and other Marvel heroes to help save the world from the evils of Loki and the Mighty Galactus.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes will feature over 100 playable characters ranging from Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Guardians of the Galaxy, to The Mighty Galactus himself.
This is going to be a very huge game for me. I’m a huge fan of both Marvel Comic/Movies and Lego’s alike, so this game will be a dream come true for me!
The official announcement trailer for Pokemon X & Y has been released. This is going to be the first handheld Pokemon game to feature 3D graphics.
Instead of going on a long rant about how I feel about this game, I want to here what you have to say, so I’ll conduct a little experiment; leave a one word comment about how you feel about this game, and I’ll tell you how I feel about it.
The story portrayed was astonishing. I was immediately attached to the characters, forming a bond with the and genuinely caring about their well being… Well, except for Duck. I hated Duck. Anyways, I absolutely loved the story of the game. It had me laughing at times, crying most of the time, and terrified all of the time.
The gameplay was reminiscent of an old point and click adventure game. I played this with an xbox controller, so I can’t say how well it handle with keyboard and mouse, but the controller worked pretty smoothly. It didn’t have as much sensitivity as I would have like, but it was defiantly fun.
