“Without Freedom of Choice, There is No Creativity”

I sit, curled in a fetal position, the novel Huckleberry Finn lays at my feet. Tears flow from my eyes, tears made of pure terror. The abomination lays there, mocking me, it’s horrifying  pages flapping at me, laughing it’s sick laugh. The tears don’t cease, they won’t until this horrible book is out of my life. “I’d rather be playing StarCraft…” I manage to mumble.

Assigned reading has always been a huge pain in my ass. No matter what, I always find myself hating the books that we are assigned to read, even if I would have loved them outside of school. It just seems to be the fact that we HAVE to read them that ticks me off.

I’ve never been a fan of being forced to do anything. No matter what it is, I hate being told what I HAVE to do. As Captain Kirk once said; “Without freedom of choice, the is no creativity.” That is a quote I try to live my life by, because without the freedom of choice, what are we?

I’ve always felt this way, for as long as I can remember. My parents and adult supervisors always tagged me as “rebellious”, but I’ve always considered myself a bit a revolutionary. Now before you go thinking “He thinks he’s a revolutionary? How conceded is this guy?! ” I just have to explain, I’m not big headed, I’m just sure of my beliefs.

So what’s the whole point of this you may ask? Well, I’m just trying to get across that you should always have a choice of what to do, even if it’s something as trivial as reading a book for school. No one like being told what to do.

Pokemon X & Y Announcement Trailer Released

The official announcement trailer for Pokemon X & Y has been released. This is going to be the first handheld Pokemon game to feature 3D graphics.

Instead of going on a long rant about how I feel about this game, I want to here what you have to say, so I’ll conduct a little experiment; leave a one word comment about how you feel about this game, and I’ll tell you how I feel about it.

Slender: The Arrival Teaser Trailer Released

I must say I was a huge fan of the first Slender game. It was simple as hell, collect all 8 pages and survive being stalked by Slender man  Easy right? Hell no! The difficulty increases with each page collected.

But anyways, this isn’t about the original game (which you can get for free here: http://www.parsecproductions.net/slender/ ), this is about the amazing looking sequel/continuation of the first.

From what we can see, Slender: The Arrival boasts some impressive new graphics. The scenery shown looks astonishingly pretty. There are excellent outdoor textures, enticing indoor displays, and even old Slendy himself has gotten a graphical revamp.

Considering there is no playable demo out yet, I can’t speak for gameplay, but I honestly hope that it is similar to the first game. The gameplay was simple enough to jump right in and start playing, which was a relief for casual horror-gamers everywhere.

But what I really want to know is what’s your opinion of this? What do you think of the Slender series? Are you looking forward to Slender: The Arrival?

Remember, he's always watching you...

Star Trek: Into Darkness Trailer Opinion

First off, I’ve got to say, I’m no Star Trek buff, so I’m just going to be basing this off personal opinion and previous knowledge.

So in this trailer, we see the return of the crew of the Enterprise from the previous film. It starts off with a pretty cool narrative from Benedict Cumberbatch (who is rumored to play Khan). He is pretty much saying that the universe isn’t as safe as Star Fleet would like to think it is. The tone then switches to all out badassery. We see shit blow up, people fighting, more shit blowing up, and a slew of other things. We see an enormous ship rising out of the water, and what looks to me like the Enterprise crashing into another body of water (There’s going to be a good amount of water in this movie).

In my opinion, this teaser trailer is awesome. They hint just enough of the story to make it cool, and have the perfect amount of badass action in it.  I was in love with the first Star Trek movie by J.J Abrams, so my expectations are already set pretty high for this movie. Only time will tell how it will be, but for now, I’m looking forward to this.

Street Fighter x Megaman

From a brilliant fan comes Street Fighter x Megaman.

This glorious creation is a completely fan-made project created by Singaporean Seow Zong Hui (aka Sonic) and it looks phenomenal. A brilliant 2d side-scrolling adventure game reminiscent of the classic Megaman games, Street Fighter x Megaman has you going through levels (also reminiscent of classic Megaman) where you will eventually fight iconic bosses from the Street Fighter series.

This is a strictly PC game and will be completely  free-to-play. It’s launch date is December 17th.

To sum it all up, I’m madly in love with this project. If this lives up to all my expectations, you probably won’t be hearing from me for months, as I’ll be continuously be playing. Not to mention it’s free. ;D

Character Opinion: Hellboy

hellboy_comic_desktop_1680x1050_wallpaper-371033Let me just start by saying that I love Hellboy. It’s been one of my favorite comics for the past few years.

Hellboy was brought to our world near  the end of WWII, summoned by Grigori Rasputin. Hellboy was not the demon that was originally supposed to be summoned, but he slipped through the portal anyways. He was found by Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm.

Hellboy was raised on an Air Force base in New Mexico by the BPRD ( Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense), a secret association established to help fight occult threats. As an adult, Hellboy became the primary agent of the BPRD, working alongside Kate Corrigan, Abe Sapien, and Liz Sherman.

As stated in the opening paragraph, Hellboy is one of my favorite comic book heroes. Although he is not the most relate-able of characters, he has a human aura around him, making him pretty cool. I’ve ended up loving this character more than I ever thought I would. He’s just so damn cool!

A Little Something New: Character Opinions!

I’ve just recently decided that it would be fun to share some history and my opinion on some characters from video games, books, and movies! Which brings us to the point of this little update, my Character Opinion Spots! These will be little features on characters I find cool and interesting and will be beginning today, starting with Hellboy.

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Leather Bound Classic Edition: A Book Opinion

bk-AdamsHHGBNLeather04First off, I should say that this is my absolute favorite book series. Ever. It’s humor is enticing and the sci-fi awesomeness keeps me coming back for more.

The story stars a semi-normal human named Arthur Dent. This Brit lives a pleasant life consisting of nothing out of the extraordinary. This all changes one day when he awakes to big yellow bulldozers outside on his lawn. Arthur’s house is set to be leveled and paved over to make a new freeway. Oddly enough, the same thing is about to happen to the whole damned Earth. After his best-mate Ford Prefect shows up, taking Arthur off planet, space-travel shenanigans ensue.

These books are absolutely brilliant. The humor is phenomenal, being satirical in nature, keeping me in stitches the whole time. The sci-fi action is perfectly blended with the humor, becoming a symbiote of awesome.

The book itself is beautiful, the hardcover leather-like binding is amazing and the cover art is pretty as hell. The book has a great weight to it, not being too heavy, but not too light. The pages are easy to turn and rarely stick together. The book comes with a blue ribbon place holder, which is attached to the binding. To sum it up simply, the book is one of the best looking (in my humble opinion anyways).

So in total, this book is a master piece. Combining all five books into one beautifully bound edition was a great idea, and it was done perfectly.

New Details of Bungie’s Project Destiny Surface

So we finally have some details on the mysterious Project Destiny. In a leaked document sent out on November 27th, 2012, many concept photos and story-line details were leaked onto the internet.

The story is set 700 years in the future in humanity’s last city, in a solar system covered with the ruins of the golden age of humans. A massive alien ship known only as “the Traveler” hangs over earth like a second moon, know one knows what it’s purpose is. In the meantime, alien creatures swarm from the outer reaches of space, determined only to steal earth and the last city from the humans. We are described as  “Young Knights” defending humanity from the alien threat.

The game was then went to be described as “Fun and accessible” and Bungie is hoping to have it be as in-depth as the Star Wars Universe. According to IGN, the game seems to be less mature than the previous Halo games created by Bungie. “Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure” Is what Bungie stated the game as being.

Here is the link to IGN’s post about this news: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/28/destiny-story-details-concept-art-leaked

As an extra bonus for you all, here’s some of the concept art provided in the story.

Update Time!

I’m back! After a week (give-or-take) long break, I’m making a triumphant return!

So the main reason why I’ve been away is because I got a “real job.” That’s right, I’ve be consumed by the Dark Side. I’m now “proudly” employed by Old Navy and have been working there for the past two weeks. I can now firmly state that working retail sucks.

Going from having a YouTube “job” to having an actual one was quite a jump. This means I actually have to do something to get my money ( ;D ) and that I actually have superiors. I’m not in charge of my own income anymore. And it is strange!

The only nice thing I can really think about is having a fixed income. That means that I’ll always have the same amount of money be payed to me on a regular basis. My one complaint about YouTube was that the money was completely unreliable. I didn’t know when my next paycheck would be or how much it would be. Now I’m making a solid, unwavering amount of money.

Anyways, another reason (albeit somewhat personal) is that I have developed an early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. I don’t want to go too far into detail, but I’ll say I’ve had numerous head injuries and it has started to make an effect. I’ve been spending as much time with family as possible making memories that I know won’t last.

At that I’d like to apologize to all my friends ( yes I consider my readers to be friends) for my absence.
