I sit, curled in a fetal position, the novel Huckleberry Finn lays at my feet. Tears flow from my eyes, tears made of pure terror. The abomination lays there, mocking me, it’s horrifying pages flapping at me, laughing it’s sick laugh. The tears don’t cease, they won’t until this horrible book is out of my life. “I’d rather be playing StarCraft…” I manage to mumble.
Assigned reading has always been a huge pain in my ass. No matter what, I always find myself hating the books that we are assigned to read, even if I would have loved them outside of school. It just seems to be the fact that we HAVE to read them that ticks me off.
I’ve never been a fan of being forced to do anything. No matter what it is, I hate being told what I HAVE to do. As Captain Kirk once said; “Without freedom of choice, the is no creativity.” That is a quote I try to live my life by, because without the freedom of choice, what are we?
I’ve always felt this way, for as long as I can remember. My parents and adult supervisors always tagged me as “rebellious”, but I’ve always considered myself a bit a revolutionary. Now before you go thinking “He thinks he’s a revolutionary? How conceded is this guy?! ” I just have to explain, I’m not big headed, I’m just sure of my beliefs.
So what’s the whole point of this you may ask? Well, I’m just trying to get across that you should always have a choice of what to do, even if it’s something as trivial as reading a book for school. No one like being told what to do.
First off, I’ve got to say, my personal laptop has bit the dust, and now I’m stuck using a shitty computer at school or the library. So my posts will probably become less frequent as the weeks go on. Things will be back to normal as soon as I get a new computer.
So, it’s a new year, and that means new content.
I have been meaning to make this post since the first of the year, but never got around to it until now. This year I’m planning some pretty awesome stuff for the Swamp. In short; Youtube. I’ve recently gotten some new recording software and I’m anticipating the new recordings I can do with it.
We all know I had only one gameplay video posted here, and it was pretty sub-par. But with my new computer AND new recording software, the quality will be much better. I’ve also been practicing talking to myself (as strange as it sounds) to help with my recording jitters. I was always nervous going into a recording session because I was afraid I’d have nothing to talk about, but by talking to myself randomly, I’ve almost remedied that problem.
So needless to say, this Youtube thing is a pretty big deal to me. I really like gaming and have always wanted to share my shenanigans with the world, so what better outlet than Youtube?!
The official announcement trailer for Pokemon X & Y has been released. This is going to be the first handheld Pokemon game to feature 3D graphics.
Instead of going on a long rant about how I feel about this game, I want to here what you have to say, so I’ll conduct a little experiment; leave a one word comment about how you feel about this game, and I’ll tell you how I feel about it.
First off, I’ve got to say, I’m no Star Trek buff, so I’m just going to be basing this off personal opinion and previous knowledge.
So in this trailer, we see the return of the crew of the Enterprise from the previous film. It starts off with a pretty cool narrative from Benedict Cumberbatch (who is rumored to play Khan). He is pretty much saying that the universe isn’t as safe as Star Fleet would like to think it is. The tone then switches to all out badassery. We see shit blow up, people fighting, more shit blowing up, and a slew of other things. We see an enormous ship rising out of the water, and what looks to me like the Enterprise crashing into another body of water (There’s going to be a good amount of water in this movie).
In my opinion, this teaser trailer is awesome. They hint just enough of the story to make it cool, and have the perfect amount of badass action in it. I was in love with the first Star Trek movie by J.J Abrams, so my expectations are already set pretty high for this movie. Only time will tell how it will be, but for now, I’m looking forward to this.
From a brilliant fan comes Street Fighter x Megaman.
This glorious creation is a completely fan-made project created by Singaporean Seow Zong Hui (aka Sonic) and it looks phenomenal. A brilliant 2d side-scrolling adventure game reminiscent of the classic Megaman games, Street Fighter x Megaman has you going through levels (also reminiscent of classic Megaman) where you will eventually fight iconic bosses from the Street Fighter series.
This is a strictly PC game and will be completely free-to-play. It’s launch date is December 17th.
To sum it all up, I’m madly in love with this project. If this lives up to all my expectations, you probably won’t be hearing from me for months, as I’ll be continuously be playing. Not to mention it’s free. ;D
Hellboy was brought to our world near the end of WWII, summoned by Grigori Rasputin. Hellboy was not the demon that was originally supposed to be summoned, but he slipped through the portal anyways. He was found by Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm.
Hellboy was raised on an Air Force base in New Mexico by the BPRD ( Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense), a secret association established to help fight occult threats. As an adult, Hellboy became the primary agent of the BPRD, working alongside Kate Corrigan, Abe Sapien, and Liz Sherman.
As stated in the opening paragraph, Hellboy is one of my favorite comic book heroes. Although he is not the most relate-able of characters, he has a human aura around him, making him pretty cool. I’ve ended up loving this character more than I ever thought I would. He’s just so damn cool!
I’ve just recently decided that it would be fun to share some history and my opinion on some characters from video games, books, and movies! Which brings us to the point of this little update, my Character Opinion Spots! These will be little features on characters I find cool and interesting and will be beginning today, starting with Hellboy.
So we finally have some details on the mysterious Project Destiny. In a leaked document sent out on November 27th, 2012, many concept photos and story-line details were leaked onto the internet.
The story is set 700 years in the future in humanity’s last city, in a solar system covered with the ruins of the golden age of humans. A massive alien ship known only as “the Traveler” hangs over earth like a second moon, know one knows what it’s purpose is. In the meantime, alien creatures swarm from the outer reaches of space, determined only to steal earth and the last city from the humans. We are described as “Young Knights” defending humanity from the alien threat.
The game was then went to be described as “Fun and accessible” and Bungie is hoping to have it be as in-depth as the Star Wars Universe. According to IGN, the game seems to be less mature than the previous Halo games created by Bungie. “Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure” Is what Bungie stated the game as being.
